Foster Care FAQs

  • What is the fostering process at Lucky U Rescue?

Start by filling out our online application form. After review, we arrange a meet-and-greet or video call with the pet. Once approved, you complete the adoption agreement and bring your new companion home.

  • Do you provide vetting and other essential needs?

Yes. We provide all of that and food too if needed.

  • Do we have to crate them?

Yes. Part of training is learning to be in a crate and to feel safe and to have a safe space. It also helps with potty training and chewing issues.

  • What happens if I want to go out of town?

We will either pay for the animals to board. Or one of our fosters will take the animal while the foster is out of town.

  • How long will I have the animal?

It all varies. Sometimes the animal is fully grown and already fixed and UTD on vaccines so they adopt out with in 2 weeks.

Other times you have puppies that have to atleast have their second set of shots to transport. So those would need to be fostered longer. If a dog has special needs. The foster time would be longer.

We would also negotiate a time aswell so that there would be a back up to fall on in case the animal takes longer than normal to adopt out.
